Hi.
For me the user and developer experience is what keeps me spending time on Radix. And seeing Stokenet mentioned as the last topic in the misc section is weird.
The current Stokenet deployment setup seems to have been critical as a QA environment for the mainnet upgrades and maintenance. Providing identical setup and bluegreen deployments for testing upgrades and reduce the need for planned maintenance downtime. It comes with a cost though. They are not even sure themselves but at least 2K usd pr month only on Infrastructure is needed to keep it alive.
When we now move over to a DAO setup with somewhat unpredictable financial support, we must prioritize hard on what to keep and what to skip. My opinion is that we shoot ourselves in the foot if we shut down the excellent developer experience now.
I have volunteered for helping out on P3 service. But I also realize that what I can offer is limited to only keep the Stokenet Network alive.
What i want to discuss is what Service level and expectations will we need for the Stokenet network.
My own view is that we should
- Keep the Stokenet alive together with the developer tools/apps.
- Transfer it to the community and service it based on best efforts.
- Revisit the question and needs after the DAO is established and additional investments and development plans are secured.
Just be aware that downscaling this network does not mean the cost running it disappears in hot air. It’s still significant cost attached to keep running it. We still need to run 2 Validator node, 1-2 Full Nodes and a complete Gateway Infrastructure. It is what it is.
Please provide some inputs so the volunteered ppl can propose something that meets the community’s expectations.
